Johnson was a college football player for the University of Miami, with whom he won a national championship in 1991. He aspired to a professional career in football and entered the 1995 NFL Draft, but went undrafted. He signed with the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League (CFL), but was cut from the team in his first season. Shortly after, he began training as a professional wrestler.[10]
In 1996, Johnson secured a contract with the WWF and was promoted as the first third-generation wrestler in WWF history, as he is the son of Rocky Johnson and grandson of Peter Maivia.[3] He rose to prominence after developing the charismatic, boastful, trash-talking Rock persona. He won his first WWF Championship in 1998 and helped usher in the Attitude Era, an industry boom period in the late 1990s and early 2000s.[11] In 2004, he left the WWE to pursue an acting career. He returned in 2011 as a part-time performer until 2013, and made sporadic appearances until retiring in 2019.[12]
Considered one of the greatest professional wrestlers and biggest wrestling draws of all time,[13][14] Johnson headlined the most-bought professional wrestling pay-per-view event ever (WrestleMania XXVIII) and was featured among the most watched episodes of WWE's two flagship television shows (Raw and SmackDown).[15][16] He is a two-time Intercontinental Champion, a five-time tag team champion, a 10-time world champion,[17] a Royal Rumble match winner, and WWE's sixth Triple Crown champion.
Johnson's first leading film role was in The Scorpion King (2002). He has since starred in many successful films, including The Game Plan (2007), Tooth Fairy (2010), Journey 2: The Mysterious Island (2012), G.I. Joe: Retaliation (2013), Hercules (2014), San Andreas (2015), Central Intelligence, Moana (both 2016), Rampage, and Skyscraper (both 2018). His role as Luke Hobbs in Fast & Furious, beginning with Fast Five (2011), helped it become one of the highest-grossing film franchises.[18] Johnson also stars in the Jumanji franchise, appearing in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017) and Jumanji: The Next Level (2019).
Johnson produced and starred in the HBO series Ballers (2015–2019), which ran for five seasons and was ranked as HBO's most-watched comedy in six years.[19] He has also attained success as a television host.[20][21] In 2000, he released the autobiography The Rock Says, a New York Times bestseller.[22][23] In 2012, he founded the production company Seven Bucks Productions, which has produced several films and other entertainment projects.[24] Consistently ranked among the world's highest-paid actors,[25] Johnson made the Time 100 Most Influential People in the World list in 2016 and 2019,[26][27] and is the co-owner of the American football league, the XFL.[28][29]

The rock next movies

need to classify Dwayne Johnson. The man isn't just blowing up at the multiplex. He's capturing the explosion in a headlock, pile-driving it into the ground, cracking a joke as he does so, then finishing us off with his trademark, 1,000-watt mega-smile. If we're lucky, he'll even arch an eyebrow, just to remind us that this is The Rock's world. We're only renting space for a limited time.
Given his status, it should come as no surprise that Dwayne Johnson has numerous movies heading to theaters in the near future, all of which sound like they will keep the one-time wrestler and current big-screen phenom in the blockbuster business for years. Because we know that you love The Rock as much as we love The Rock, we've built this guide to keep track of all of the actor's upcoming films – including those that are still making their way through development and will still require quite a lot of work before they are ready to hit theaters. Which of these are you most interested in seeing? Scroll down through the list, and then hit the comments section to highlight your favorites.
Jungle Cruise
Just when we all thought Mr. Movie Star couldn't fit any more movies or TV shows into his packed schedule...he surprised us all and worked Jungle Cruise into his life. The movie, which is based on the Disneyland ride of the same name, finished filming in early June 2019, but is taking an extra minute to arrive in theaters. While it was originally scheduled to be released in summer 2020, it has since been pushed back to summer 2021. The film co-stars Emily Blunt, Jack Whitehall, Paul Giamatti, and more.
Release date: July 30, 2021

Red Notice
Netflix doesn't dabble a lot in the action blockbuster game given that it's challenging to compete with the big screen experience when it comes to that genre, but they have a massive project in the works that has Dwayne Johnson at the center of it – with two of the world's biggest stars serving as co-leads. The film features Johnson as an INTERPOL agent on the hunt for the world's most wanted art thief, and joining him for the ride will be Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds. Rawson Marshall Thurber, who previously helmed Central Intelligence and Skyscraper, is reuniting with The Rock for the project, and while production plans were interrupted in early 2020, there are plans to have the movie available streaming in 2021.
Release date: 2021

Black Adam
DC and Warner Bros. locked up Dwayne Johnson in the role of Black Adam in a Shazam movie several years ago, but many things changed behind the scenes. Originally, the plan was for Johnson to play the bad guy/anti-hero in Shazam's big screen debut, but in January 2017 it was revealed that there was a new plan, one that would see the character get his own movie and not appear in Shazam!. That hero-centric feature has since been made, and a sequel is on the way, but Black Adam is also now gaining steam. Jungle Cruise's Jaume Collet-Serra is set to direct the project, and filming is scheduled to start in late summer 2020.
Release date: December 22, 2021
San Andreas 2
After the above titles, we start to get speculative, as nothing else on The Rock's calendar has an actual release date or production plans... just a lot of chatter, and updates from the actor's camp on project possibilities. San Andreas 2 is a no-brainer, as the first movie earned a whopping $473 million in global ticket sales. Rumors at the time of the sequel's announcement had Dwayne Johnson's character – an LAFD search-and-rescue helicopter pilot – going up against the Ring of Fire... which means The Rock is going to punch earthquakes around the globe? As of April 2020 the project is still in development, and Alexandra Daddario is said that she is still game to do the film.
Doc Savage
Writer/director Shane Black most recently finished The Predator, a reboot of that popular franchise which was released on September 14, 2018, and while it's not entirely clear what feature project he is going to tackle next, there is hope that he will soon get around to making his Doc Savage movie, based on the classic pulp magazine adventurer. Shortly after the Doc Savage news broke, The Rock teased a collaboration with Black that he would film in 2017. While some rights issues have stopped the film from getting underway as quickly as Black and Dwayne Johnson had hoped, the latter did confirm in early 2018 that they're still working on the project. Hopefully everything will be worked out and the film will eventually get made.
Big Trouble in Little China
Back in 2015, Dwayne Johnson confirmed plans to make a new version of Big Trouble in Little China – one that is promised to be a continuation of the John Carpenter-directed cult classic that won't feature Johnson as Kurt Russell's iconic hero Jack Burton. The actor has been saying all the right things about respecting the source material and honoring the work of both Carpenter and Russell, though neither of those guys are totally cool with the idea of the film being remade. We actually haven't heard anything about this project since mid-2018, but it's apparently something that's still in the works and a movie that The Rock really wants to get made. It seems that finding time to get it done is the biggest challenge.
The King
One of the coolest things about Dwayne Johnson's career is the work that he has done to bring more attention to Samoan culture – honoring his own roots and teaching audiences about a people who don't get a lot of focus in pop culture. Titles that stand out in this regard are Moana and Hobbs & Shaw, but soon he will have the opportunity to bring a real piece of history to the big screen. In 2018, The Rock made a deal to team up with directors Husain El-Minbawi and Robert Zemeckis to try and make The King, a developing biopic that will star Johnson as King Kamehameha and follow his mission in the late 18th century to unite the islands of Hawaii. This is the kind of project we expect that Johnson will work hard to get made, though exactly when he'll have time to do it is currently unknown.

1990–2010: Early life and career beginnings
Wizkid was born Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun on 16 July 1990, in Surulere, Lagos.[5][failed verification] He grew up in an interfaith household with twelve female siblings. His mother is a Pentecostal Christian and his father practices Islam.[1] Wizkid attended Ijebu Ode Grammar School.[6][1] He grew up listening to King Sunny Ade, Fela Kuti and Bob Marley.[citation needed] In a radio interview with Tim Westwood in 2012, he said his father has three wives.[7] In another interview with Adesope of Factory 78 TV, Wizkid said he formed a group called the Glorious Five with a couple of his church friends.[8] They managed to release an album prior to disbanding. Wizkid went by the stage name Lil Prinz until 2006.[9] He later met OJB Jezreel, a record producer who prevented him from recording for a year.[8] While visiting OJB's Point Beat Studios frequently, he watched 2 Face Idibia record songs for his Grass 2 Grace album. He was also present during the recording sessions for Sound Sultan's debut album Jagbajantis.[10][8] He cited Naeto C as one of the people who mentored and coached him when he was 15 years old. Wizkid inked a record deal with Empire Mates Entertainment in 2009. He co-wrote "Omoge You Too Much", a song from Banky W.'s The W Experience album.[8][10] He also worked with Naeto C, Ikechukwu and M.I while developing his craft.[11] In mid-2009, he dropped out of Lagos State University (LASU). He later attended Lead City University, but dropped out after completing two sessions.[10]
2010–2011: Superstar
Wizkid began recording his debut studio album Superstar in 2009.[10] He released "Holla at Your Boy" as the album's lead single on 2 January 2010.[12] The song nominated for Best Pop Single but earned him the Next Rated award at The Headies 2011. In addition to winning the award, he was awarded a 2012 Hyundai Sonata courtesy of the organizers.[13] Its music video was nominated for Most Gifted Newcomer Video at the 2011 Channel O Music Video Awards.[14]
On 2 April 2010, Wizkid released "Tease Me/Bad Guys" as the album's second single. It was initially released as a freestyle rap.[15] "Don't Dull", the album's third single, was released on 6 December 2010.[16] Superstar was recorded in English and Yoruba. It was released on 12 June 2011, by Empire Mates Entertainment. The album incorporates elements of Afrobeats, R&B, dancehall and reggae. While working on Superstar, Wizkid collaborated with record producers such as E-Kelly, Jay Sleek, Shizzi, DJ Klem, Masterkraft, Q-Beats and Samklef. The album features guest appearances from Banky W., Skales, D'Prince and Wande Coal. It was initially scheduled for release on 14 February 2011, but was later pushed back.[17] On 12 June 2011, Wizkid hosted a launch party for the album at the Expo Hall of the Eko Hotel and Suites. The launch party featured performances from Banky W, Skales, 2face Idibia, Samklef, Wande Coal, D'Prince, Olamide, eLDee, Jesse Jagz, Ice Prince, Lynxxx and Seyi Shay.[18] Superstar garnered Best Album of the Year at the 2012 Nigeria Entertainment Awards, and was nominated for Album of the Year at The Headies 2012.[19]

The tour kicked off in July and ended in September 2012. EME acts performed in several cities, including Houston, Dallas, Toronto, Vancouver, New York City, Providence, Calgary, Atlanta, Washington DC and Chicago.[21][22] On 12 November 2012, Wizkid performed at the BBC Radio 1Xtra Live 02 Academy in Brixton alongside Trey Songz, Tulisa, Kendrick Lamar and Angel.[23]
Between 2012 and 2014, Wizkid recorded his second studio album Ayo. It features guest appearances from Femi Kuti, Banky W., Seyi Shay, Phyno, Tyga, Akon and Wale. The album's production was handled by Sarz, Shizzi, Uhuru, Del B, Dokta Frabz, Maleek Berry, Legendury Beatz and Spellz. It was initially titled Chosen.[citation needed] According to MTV Base, the album suffered from a pushed back release date.[24] It was reported earlier that the album would feature Don Jazzy, Efya and Olamide.[25] On 6 September 2014, Wizkid revealed the album's cover art and track listing. Prior to announcing plans for a second studio album, Wizkid had plans to release a mixtape in April 2013.[26] In an interview with Ok!Nigeria TV at Disturbing Headquarters in London, he said the mixtape would be released in April. He also said it would feature Wale and Tinie Tempah.[27] Wizkid later announced that he would be releasing his second studio album on 12 June 2013.[28] In an interview with HipTV, Banky W revealed the album's title and commented on the albums delay. He also gave an estimated time-frame for the album's release.[29]
On 2 May 2013, Wizkid released the album's lead single "Jaiye Jaiye". It features Grammy-nominated Nigerian musician Femi Kuti. Wizkid told Showtime Celebrity he collaborated with Femi Kuti to prevent people from depicting him as an artist whose lyrics revolve around girls, cars and materialistic things.[30] On 17 October 2013, he performed at the 2013 edition of Felabration, a yearly concert dedicated to Fela Kuti.[31] The Del B-produced "On Top Your Matter" was released as the album's second single on 26 October 2013.[32] The song's music video directed and shot in South Africa by Sesan.[33] On 2 November 2013, Wizkid performed at the Guinness Colorful World of More concert alongside D'banj, Tiwa Savage, P-Square, Davido, Ice Prince, Burna Boy, Olamide and Phyno. On 5 January 2015, Wizkid released the music video for "Ojuelegba", a song that highlights the struggles he endured in the early years of his recording career.[41] The song's official remix features vocals from Drake and Skepta; it premiered on OVO Sound Radio in July 2015.[42] Wizkid first announced that he was working on a new album during a visit to London in October 2014. He revealed "African Bad Gyal" as his collaborative single with Chris Brown and said it would be the lead single from his third studio album.[43] In April 2015, both Wizkid and Chris Brown performed "African Bad Gyal" at Brown's concert in Durban, South Africa.[44] Wizkid released "Expensive Shit", an Afrobeats song built on light guitars, saxophone lines and acoustic percussion in May 2015; the song was reported as being a likely inclusion on the album.[45] In July 2015, Wizkid announced on Twitter that Angélique Kidjo would be featured on the album.[46] In September 2015, he said he was dropping his EP and postponing the release of his third studio album. He made this announcement on Instagram shortly after the conclusion of 2Face Idibia's Fortified tribute concert.[47]
On 5 April 2016, Wizkid became Nigeria's first artist to be listed on Billboards Twitter Last 24 hours chart, following his guest feature on Drake's Afrobeats-infused "One Dance" single, which charted at number 21.[48][49] On 12 May 2016, the song reached number-one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, a position it kept for 10 non-consecutive weeks.[50] "One Dance" went on to become an international smash hit, topping the charts in 15 different countries, including the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, France and Germany. The single became Wizkid's first number-one single as a featured artist in these territories.
Wizkid released the promotional single "Like This" on 5 June. The song premiered on Drake's OVO Sound Radio the same month.[citation needed] It was produced by Amsterdam-based Ghanaian producer DJ Henry X.[51] Pitchfork writer Sheldon Pearce said the song is a "frolicking, summery jam that revels in all the work he [Wizkid]'s put in."[52] In May 2015, Wizkid joined Chris Brown on his "One Hell of a Nite" world tour.[53][54]
In March 2017, he signed a record deal with RCA Records.[55] Wizkid released his third studio album Sounds from the Other Side on 14 July 2017. He also released a collaboration with American singer, H.E.R., titled "Smile". On 17 September, Wizkid released the single "No Stress", and announced that he would be releasing his fourth album, Made in Lagos, on 15 October 2020.[63] The album launch was later postponed due to the Nigerian End SARS protests nationwide, until 30 October 2020.
Endorsements
In 2012, Wizkid signed a one-year endorsement deal with Pepsi reportedly worth $350,000 U.S.[65] He travelled to Beirut, Lebanon, with Tiwa Savage for a Pepsi commercial shoot.[66][67] On 28 May 2013, Premium Times reported that Wizkid had signed a one-year deal with MTN Nigeria. The newspaper also reported that Wizkid's Pepsi contract was renewed for two more years.[68][69] In November 2013, Wizkid signed an endorsement deal with Guinness for the Guinness World of More concert, held at the Eko Convention Centre of the Eko Hotel and Suites on Victoria Island, Lagos.[70][71] In June 2015, Pulse Nigeria reported that Wizkid had ditched MTN and signed a ₦128 million deal with GLO.

Tiwatope Savage (born 5 February 1980), known professionally as Tiwa Savage, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and actress. Born in Isale Eko, she relocated to London at the age of 11 for her secondary education. Five years later, she began her music career doing backup vocals for artists such as George Michael and Mary J. Blige. After participating in the UK edition of The X Factor and graduating from Berklee College of Music, Savage signed a publishing deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing in 2009.[2] Inspired by the growth of the Nigerian music industry, Savage moved back to Nigeria and signed with Mavin Records in 2012. She made an appearance on the label's 2012 compilation album Solar Plexus.[3]
Her debut studio album Once Upon a Time was released on the 3rd of July 2013. It was supported by seven singles: "Kele Kele Love", "Love Me (3x)", "Without My Heart", "Ife Wa Gbona", "Folarin", "Olorun Mi" and "Eminado". The album was nominated for Best Album of the Year at the 2014 Nigeria Entertainment Awards and for Best R&B/Pop Album at The Headies 2014. Savage's second studio album R.E.D was released on 19 December 2015. It yielded two singles: "My Darlin" and "Standing Ovation". In June 2016, Savage signed a management and publishing deal with Roc Nation.[4] In September 2017, she released her debut EP Sugarcane. R.E.D and Sugarcane have both been nominated for Best Album at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards.
In November 2018, Savage won Best African Act at the 2018 MTV Europe Music Awards, becoming the first woman to win the category. In May 2019, she announced her record deal with Universal Music Group and exit from Mavin Records.[5] Savage sings in English and Yoruba; her music is a blend of Afrobeats, R&B, pop and hip-hop.[6] Savage's contributions to the Nigerian music industry have earned her several achievements. She has been involved in youth empowerment and breast cancer screening projects and has raised funds to build schools in Nigeria.
Music career
1980–2009: Early life, career beginnings and songwriting
Tiwatope Savage was born on 5 February 1980, in Isale Eko, Lagos State, Nigeria.[7] Her family relocated to London when she was 11 years old. While attending secondary school, she was a trombone player for her school's orchestra band. Savage graduated with a degree in accounting from the University of Kent, and started working at The Royal Bank of Scotland.[7][6] She did backup vocals for English singer George Michael at the age of 16, and lent vocals to other musicians such as Mary J. Blige, Chaka Khan, Blu Cantrell, Emma Bunton, Kelly Clarkson, Andrea Bocelli and Ms. Dynamite.[8][9] Savage enrolled at Berklee College of Music and graduated with a degree in professional music in 2007.[2][6] While reminiscing about her experiences there, she said she was motivated by the drive and passion of the younger students. She also said she needed the school's atmosphere.[7]
In 2006, Savage participated in the UK edition of The X Factor and advanced to the final 24, but ended up being the 12th person to be evicted.[10][9] While participating, she had difficulty dealing with the limelight. She said, "You have to always realize that people are watching. When I got the bad news that I wasn't getting through [to the final 12] it was a really painful time. But you still have to learn how to hold that until you get home. Because you don't want to just let everything out. People admire you and want to see that you're strong; they don't want to see you breaking down."[7]
In 2009, Savage signed a publishing deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing. The deal allowed her to write for Babyface, Kat Deluna, Fantasia, Monica and Mýa. She has received songwriting credits for her contribution to Monica's soul-tinged ballad "Catch Me".[11] Her collaboration with Fantasia on the song "Collard Greens & Cornbread" earned the American recording artist a Grammy nomination in 2010. Savage wrote Jaicko's "Oh Yeah", featuring Snoop Dogg, and Deluna's "Push Push", featuring Akon. Main article: Once Upon a Time (Tiwa Savage album)
This album is straight from my heart and it's something that I've worked so tirelessly for. A lot of people wondered why it took me so long a time to drop my own album. That's because we had to go through a lot of legal processes to clear some of the samples that we used, and that took us some months. Also, we wanted to work with notable producers outside the shores of the country like Oak who produces Rihanna. So, we had to work around his schedule and waited for them to have our time. But this album is something that I really took my time with because I didn't want it to be the usual Nigerian album that contains just party tracks from the beginning till the end.
-Tiwa Savage, speaking to Vanguard about her debut studio album[13]
In December 2011, Savage co-hosted the second season of Nigerian Idol alongside IllRymz. She made her film debut with Joke Silva and Ireti Doyle in the stage adaptation of For Coloured Girls. Savage established the 323 Entertainment record label with her former manager and husband Tunji "Tee Billz" Balogun, to whom she got engaged on 5 February 2013.[14] She joined Mavin Records in 2012 and was one of the lead acts on the label's compilation album Solar Plexus (2012).[8][9] While attending Berklee College of Music, she networked with musicians Keith Harris, Derek Pate, Scott Coleman, Radar Ellis, and Darien Dorsey. In an interview with journalist Brenda Pike, she said she collaborated with producers Chuck Harmony, Warren "Oak" Felder, and Sossick, among others. She said her debut studio album would include songs in her native tongue.[7] Savage was featured on the remix of "Oyi" in 2012. Prior to collaborating with Flavour, she recorded her own version of the song.[15]
In celebration of the 52nd anniversary of Nigeria's independence, Savage performed her rendition of "Arise, O Compatriots" for Ndani Sessions.[16] In November 2012, she collaborated with Waje, Praiz, Timi Dakolo and Pamela Egoh on the Ovation Red Carol theme song "Higher".[17] Savage started recording her debut studio album Once Upon a Time in 2010. She held an album listening party at the Wheatbaker Hotel in Ikoyi in May 2013. During the listening party, she revealed the entire track list of the album and announced Iceberg Slim, Sarkodie and General Pype as featured acts.[18] The album was released to the Nigerian public on 3 July 2013. It was released on iTunes a day before its official release. Savage named the album Once Upon a Time in order to portray the positive stories about her life. She said she wanted to motivate other upcoming artists by telling them that, once upon a time, she was a little girl in Isale Eko who dreamt of being a star. The album was supported by seven singles—"Kele Kele Love", "Love Me (3x)", "Without My Heart", "Ife Wa Gbona", "Folarin", "Olorun Mi" and "Eminado". It also includes political songs like "Middle Passage", which is about the struggles of African men in a foreign country.[13] Once Upon a Time was nominated for Best Album of the Year at the 2014 Nigeria Entertainment Awards.[19] It was also nominated for Best R&B/Pop Album at The Headies 2014.[20]

Born Divine Ikubor, Rema gained prominence with the song “Iron Man” which was featured on former US president Barack Obama’s 2019 summer playlist just barely five months after signing a record deal.
“Ni**as don’t wanna see a kid win, they feel I got it too easy,” he tweeted. “I shower with my sweat, we go off on this side like the days in BENIN it got nun to do with my deal, come and sign these papers without a hustler spirit, you gone lose! Management gone change my password now lol.
“I climbed this cliff with bunch of rejected beats. Some niggas hate me because of that. When we in the same room together don’t label me proud or rude because I don’t smile, talk or laugh to your jokes.”
Elsewhere, he addressed critics of his music style: “Niggas label my music rubbish because I infuse my Edo language. Because I didn’t follow the usual guidelines to music, because I hacked Afrobeats with God given melodies, they called it ‘Indian’ because they DO NOT UNDERSTAND ME. I’m not of this world, know this now!”
Rema thanked Obama for “seeing what I saw in Ironman” adding that a lot of people “couldn’t”. He revealed that he was 18 years old when he made the song whose beat has “6 sounds.” Rema bragged that he will give “that simple beat” to half of the industry and he wouldn’t get a record “as strong as IRONMAN”.
“Ni**as feel I’m disrespectful, they want me to alert them before I drop,” Rema tweeted. Adding that he had made millions before the fame. “Let no man feel this money changing me.”
The “Dumebi” singer was discovered by Don Jazzy’s biological brother, D’Prince, who told him he was the “chosen one”.
“I told D’prince sir I’m making money where I’m at I think I’m good. D’prince said to me stop what you’re doing and come to me boy ‘you’re the chosen one’, this music shit is gonna pay if you trust me!
“I done did Melodies that never existed in this world, go listen to my records. I swear them engineers thought I was crazy when I say turn off the auto tune.”
He took a shot at an unnamed girl who had rejected him before he became famous: “To the girl who rejected me before this fame, I’m eating the royalties off this pain. (WHY)”
“Ozedikus took risks for me, he was under a management with guidelines. He sneaked beats to me so I could record when my first engineer left me because we couldn’t pay him at the time. All the beats Ozedikus sneaked are now HITS.”
Rema also revealed he stole a laptop from someone named Eric in 2017. “Eric, Sorry I stole your Laptop in 2017, I know you were trying to help me. My Mom had a child on the way, I was the only man in my family. They made fun of her because she got pregnant, I wanted to prove them wrong bro, I had to do it.”
The “Iron Man” singer also spoke about losing his brother, saying people only love him because he has something to offer: “When my late brother did house parties y’all came, when he died only 2 friends stood beside his death bed. That’s why I’m not comfortable around people, they love me because I have something to offer, You know yourselves don’t let me catch you!!!”
